Are you looking for the perfect hiking socks to accompany you on your outdoor adventures? Introducing FLX Hiking Socks!

What Makes FLX Hiking Socks Stand Out?
Our NEW hiking socks are the squishy product of over a year's long collaboration with farmers, a fiber mill, and a commercial sock knitter! Did we mention they are expertly crafted from New York State wool? The yarn is sourced in the Finger Lakes region, hence the local moniker: FLX.
These socks are not only durable and comfortable, but also environmentally friendly, making them a top choice for nature enthusiasts and people who love toasty toes!
The Origin of FLX Hiking Socks
This "sheep to feet" project came to fruition through a collaboration between NYS Grown & Certified, Local Fiber, the NY Fiber Trail & the Hudson Valley Textile Project. Jessie McNaughton, owner of Lift Bridge Yarns (and creator of the NY Fiber Trail as well as the idea for NYS wool socks) took on the wholesaling role, and has coordinated the project from the beginning.

What Goes into Making Socks?
Before becoming socks, the wool was sourced from five carefully-selected sheep farms in the Finger Lakes region: Lochan Mor Farm, Crooked Creek Sheep Farm, Miller Creek Farm, Conrad Hill Farm & Bear Farm. The unique blending of various sheep breeds creates a high-performance, ready-to-wear, sustainable, 100% wool product that is even (wait for it) machine washable!
Once sheared, washed, and blended, the gorgeous natural/undyed tonal brown fiber is spun not far from Lift Bridge Yarns in Greenwich, NY. Battenkill Fiber Mill is a local gem and we knew they were up to the challenge of creating a well-crafted, high-quality yarn for making hard-wearing socks.
Finally, the finished cones of mill-spun yarn are shipped off to MN, where they are machine knit into four sizes of ribbed socks ranging from XS (W4-6) to XL (M11-13)!
Benefits of New York State Wool
New York State wools are known for their superior quality and durability. By blending different types of wool, FLX hiking socks offer comfort, natural odor-control, moisture-wicking properties, and temperature regulation. Whether you're trekking through the mountains, exploring a local trail, or walking through a fiber festival, these socks will keep your feet dry and comfortable throughout your journey.
Environmental Sustainability
Choosing FLX hiking socks means supporting local farmers and businesses in New York State. In an era when fast fashion and rising production costs are forcing mills to close, this project hopes to get the attention of the eco-conscious individuals committed to more sustainable living. By using wool sourced from local farms within a small radius, these socks have a lower carbon footprint compared to mass-produced synthetic alternatives, and with care will last a long time. Additionally, the use of natural fibers reduces the environmental impact of the production process.
Supporting Local
When it comes to choosing the perfect hiking socks, FLX socks are a top choice for both wool lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.
