About Us
How it Started: LBY Beginnings
Lift Bridge Yarns was born out of equal parts community love and a very convenient excuse to keep working with, talking about, and squishing yarn all day.
Jessie McNaughton and Dawn Verdugo both worked at a local yarn shop that, sadly, closed its brick-and-mortar doors. Rather than watch the incredible community that had grown up around it disappear (and, frankly, to avoid going back to the real world of regular jobs) they decided to open a shop of their own. Best decision ever! Dawn has since passed the ownership torch to Jessie, but you can still find her on the shop floor a few days a week, because some places are too good to leave!
That community-first spirit is still the heartbeat of LBY today, now carried forward by Jessie as sole owner, alongside some truly AMAZING humans on the team.
About Jessie
Jessie has been making things her whole life. She holds a degree in fine art and considers herself an equal-opportunity crafter who loves all forms of making. She's been knitting since she was 9, is firmly a process knitter over a product knitter (the journey is the destination, people), and is currently deep in her crochet era. She's a transplant to the lovely village of Fairport and couldn't imagine a better home for the shop or herself. She also has two awesome kids, a lot of yarn, two cats, a pretty chill husband, and no down time whatsoever.
About the Shop
We offer a curated selection of yarns, accessories, notions, and locally made gifts, with a special love for hand dyed yarns, local dyers, fiber producers, and artisans. But we've got a little something for everyone.
Even greater than our love of yarn is our love for our community. Every person who walks through our door is so much more than a customer. You are our people! We strive to be a safe and welcoming space where fiber enthusiasts can gather, create, and connect. No matter who you are, you are welcome here. (And you're always invited to our weekly open Sit & Stitch events!)
Our shop is nestled in the village of Fairport, NY, right along the Erie Canal just outside of Rochester. We love supporting local shops, artists, and community events, and we're passionate about giving back, both close to home and beyond.
Stop in sometime. We can't wait to meet you!
