Description

To say we are excited about carrying D n D fibers is an understatement! Diana and Dave are local to Medina, NY. We've met them on multiple occasions and know first hand the care they use when choosing fibers and the artistry they achieve in their dye pots!

Bluefaced Leicester (BFL) is a sheep breed with a long fiber staple making it durable and long-lasting. Tussah silk adds strength and a delicious shine!

Care

Hand wash all fibers in cool water, with no agitation, and lay flat to dry to avoid felting.

Dyeing Techniques

These are the dyeing techniques employed for each style. Each description below is included on a card with each corresponding braid of fiber to help the spinner achieve an intended effect.

Dyed w/ Mirrored Striping:
-These have been snaked back and forth, in a flat pan, then dyed in stripes.
-Can be spun to keep stripes or split randomly to mix the colors.
-These are great for doing fractal spins. Example: A single braid is split, usually in half
and that is spun from end to end; other half can be split in 2, 3, 4 etc. and each spun end to end.
Then these would be plied with the first half. This creates stripes but in a more heathered way

Kettle Dyed:
-These are spiraled in a dye pot and then dyed with two or three colors.
-This creates blends of the colors used and colors tend to have a more gradual transition.
-These are more random than mirrored striping.

Dyed w/ Random Dots:
-These are snaked in flat pans but are dotted/speckled with dye colors.
-These are the most random of all our dyeing techniques.
